Projekt Innenhof / inner courtyard - scroll down for new updates

It started with some clearing and weeding in Oktober 2011...

Now spring arrived and we were able to go on...

Under the old muck heap - lately used as a compost heap - we found our main Septic tank.

You don't want to see inside this :)

cleaned out it looks much better and for a greenhouse it's stable enough, just some little repairs needed.

Hurry up John, the first flowers are already out - we need to get everything ready for the seeding season - otherwise you won't get homegrown veggis!

Great :) That'll do for a few years. Filled with good compost and sieved earth from the old flowerbeds in the back, we should be able to grow tomis again...
But what is that grey shit in front of our 1/2 Greenhouse? Old beton - broken - repaired and just ugly and depressing to looking at - but we "not yet" run out of ideas...

What about a little veggi-plot?

Warm up the muscles! Get fit!

Unfortunately the layer of beton was "a bit" thicker than expected and we haven't had any heavy boys-toys.
We found solid foundation of an old building and we were joking to throw some of Johns old roman coins in the ground and call the british "Time Team" to dig it up for us.

- but after one day of work we had a few more big natural stones and a BIG pile of beton

and we were able to see a glimpse of nature - earth :)

one of the big natural stones we found - 80 x 50cm and only 20cm deep...
and some cobblestones we took up.

Back to the Greenhouse - the roof.
Recycled good old wood that was lying in the barn, you won't get this quality in a DIY-Shop.

might not win a beauty competition, but it's querky and 90° angles are foreign language to our greenhouse, but the peppers won't mind.

while turning the earth to get the biggest gravel and stones out we also found the route our waste pipe takes to the pit - good to know.

and with more sieved earth from behind the house we planted the first strawberrys :)

Today we found in the flowerbeds another long buried gem  - more to come...

27th April

ups - I forgot to take a pic from the long buried gem, but you can take a guess what it might be :)

something to watch from mid-April:

we had good weather over here and "pimped up" further...

An old Partytable that hardly got used and only stood in the cellar got redesigned by John for a birthday present for Isa - and the birds, (restaurant with bar and bath) ...

the tits & birds are enjoying the Leckerchen

the tomatoes moved into their new home

and the flowers will soon move outside, need the space for the toms & paps & melons

and the greenhouse got a rustique shell from old planks that were in the barn & finally a door.

and the start of the yellow brick road gets controlled from our supervisor

we started to clean the brick wall and pointed it in - ups wrong focus -
pics of the result follow (only 2m done)

our neighbours try to raise a family and are watching us carefully

and when we take a coffe break, they take a snack

from time to time apears a big shadow over our inner courtyard...

thats the news for now :)

WHAT MIGHT BE THE GEM?
